BlazBlue Alter Memory
Action, Fantasy
Hoods Entertainment

Alright, I’m an avid player of Blaz Blue. I main Nu-13/Lambda-11. I think the style, character design, and story behind the franchise is all good stuff. So, why am I not excited about this show? There’re a number of reasons, the foremost of which is that this is a fighting game adaptation. Yes, BlazBlue has a big focus on story, and that’s evident to anyone that has played the games. However, that story is all told through static character portraits talking back and forth. The games have animated cutscenes here and there, but the story serves as pre and post battle dialogue. I’m really hoping this adaptation turns out fine, but I’ve set my expectations to the lowest to hopefully not be disappointed.

NouCome (Ore no Nounai Sentakushi ga, Gakuen Lovecome o Zenryoku de Jama Shiteiru)
Comedy, Romance

Gotta be some in-joke at this point amongst LN writers to make these titles progressively longer to the point where all front cover space will be needed for a series title, and they all have to make sure they clearly state in the title that it is a rom-com series. I think I’d only list SNAFU as a good long-named anime, but the longer the name the quicker I get bothered with the idea of the series even being a thing and in some strange way appreciate the title telling me all I need to know. After muting the trailer due to the appropriately annoying music track, I will admit that I found the female character designs by Yukiwo a bit attractive. Yukiwo’s previous work includes ecchi and even a hentai or two in her resume, so that’d explain why blondie and brunette are rather buxom girls. The multiple-choice idea maybe could churn out some funny results and force MC to make decisions, but my interest coming in to episode 1 will be very low.

White Album 2
Drama, Romance

You might be asking yourself if this is a sequel to White Album and that answer is yes… and no. Technically it is a sequel, but in itself is a brand new series with new characters. Therefore, you don’t have to have seen the previous series to watch this one. This is an idol show, but it also is about college-aged idols and will have a strong romantic element to the anime. It is based off of a game, so I wouldn’t expect too much from it. I just liked the idea that it is based in college and not high school or younger. It makes it feel more mature and I am curious to at least check out the first episode. I do hope that whichever idol the main character ends up with gets shamed for having a boyfriend and is forced out of the industry.

Galilei Donna
Drama, Suspense
A-1 Pictures

This is an original work from A-1 Pictures, which has made some generally good original series (Anohana, Tsuritama, etc.) though the end results can vary based on whose opinion you ask for. This one will be directed by Yasuomi Umetsu (Mezzo Forte, Kite) and character designs by Shingo Adachi (Working!) and is about 3 female descendants of Galileo who must work together to protect the titular “Galilei Donna” from a mysterious organization. The trailer gives little to work off of plot-wise, but the visuals I’ve seen so far look splendid and I’m pretty hopeful for this anime being a good watch.

Valvrave 2
Action, Scifi

Woot, more Valvrave! The Spring 2013 season was a great time for me with three Mecha shows running at the same time, and Sunrise’s definitely-not-Gundam show, Valvrave the Liberator, was one of them. The show was entertaining, to say the least, and rife with twists and turns that made tuning in each week to find out what happened next a must. Now after a season off, we can see where the story wraps up. This is a slight spoiler from the first season, but there were hints at some far future stuff going on, and it’ll be interesting to see if season 2 runs with that or not.

Samurai Flamenco
Action, Comdey

This is a series about a guy who decides to become a hero even though he doesn’t have any special powers or technology to be one. This does sound kind of funny, but without any trailers that show the anime itself, I am a bit unsure about it. Manglobe use to produce some of the best anime around, but as of late they’ve barely produced anything worth mentioning. However, this is going to be on the nointaminA block and it has already been announced that it’ll be 2 seasons long. So I do feel like this show could be good and I’ll have some limited expectations for it.

Pokémon XY
Fantasy, Pokémon
Oriental Light & Magic

Ash Ketchum and Pikachu and a bunch of new pokemon having battles against each other. The games are still going very strong ever since I was a teenager trading with Red & Blue and it keeps pumping out new anime series for kids to enjoy. As though I needed to write anything about this series to tell you what’s going on.

    General thoughts on Autumn 2013:

Looking over this year lineup, I gotta say there surely lot action series this season which is no surprise considering how successful SOA and AOT was.On that note I’ll probably only be watching about five of them if the action animation isn’t to my likely.

    Somewhat one-liners:

Studio GoHands latest project is going be the adaptation of Tomonori Inoue‘s manga “Coppelion” and Shingo Suzuki going to be directing it with both Susumu Kudo and Hiromitsu Kanazawa help eh…. Well that certainly got me somewhat excited since I enjoyed both, K and Mardock Scramble. Although their colour palette is getting rather annoying. Guess working out of basement will do that

    Nagi no Asukara:

I don’t really know how to feel about Asukara, its certainly have potential, but on the other hand the last few P.A. Works drove me into such boredom that I don’t think I can take anymore.

    Outbreak Company:
Sounds like another Campione!, so at this point I’ll pass.

    Golden Time:

Despite its somewhat cliché atmosphere, I’m really exciting about the series as it’s another Takemiya Yuyuko’s work and it’s another series compose by Shimo Fumihiko(Air, Kanon, Clannad (and After Story) and Kokoro Connect). Someone who know how to do a good drama.

    Infinite Stratos 2:

Might drop it a few episodes in, only in it because the first season didn’t really do it for me

    Strike the Blood:

As Steev said it sounds promising, but when its comes to action, Sliver Link hasn’t been that impressive , so I going to watch an episode or two before making my final judgement.

    got his wish;

    Freezing Vibration/Magi 2:

Will probably watch yet will constantly bitch about because I’m not a fan of watching animated rape. BTW Steev the ending of Magi S1 was fillerish

I’m going to watch this because Tetsuya Takeuchi and the off chance of me find it to be entertaining

Hajime no Ippo Rising/Ace of Diamond/Kuroku no Basuke 2/Yowamushi Pedal:

Free! with more ……. but still fujosh bait 🙂

    BlazBlue Alter Memory:

All I’ll say it that its better have Hironori Tanaka

    White Album 2:

WTF Seiya Numata ? my anticipation just double

    Galilei Donna:
I’m more interested in Yasuomi Umetsu’s real show, Wizard Barristers, but Galilei Donna going to be an good appetizer

    Samurai Flamenco:
Takahiro Omori with the creator of Read or Die as an series composer ? I don’t know how it going to turn out, but I guarantee going to like it either way.

As Steev said hopefully the production values isn’t too shabby since everything else looks promising

    Neppu Kairiku Bushi Road:

Incoming another great FX animation show by Kinema Citrus ?

    Kill la Kill/Kyokai no Kanata/Yozakura Quartet ~Hana no Uta~/Kyousogiga:

Since you guys already know how l feel about these series. I won’t say much just, Kyousogiga/Kill la Kill/Kyokai no Kanata/Yozakura Quartet ~Hana no Uta~ are very strong contenders for the best anime of the year 😀

BTW Amuro don’t forgot about Kyousogiga and upcoming annual NARUTO Shippuden sakuga episodes that will be appearing this season :)Also Magi and Samurai Flamenco will some bits of sakuga action.
