I’m going to try to keep short/simple as I can

    ■ General thoughts on the series :

Overall NARUTO is probably one of the best series that I’ve read

    ■ What do I love about NARUTO:

    ■ The overall concept/structure wasn’t so traditional like other shounen battle manga. One Piece, with that being the case I natural gravitas towards the series

    ■ Nothing was in black/white, its were always in shade of grey

    ■ Kishimoto incorporates various influences from pop culture, current events, history, philosophy, religions, human psychological and mythologies, specially mythologies since I’m a mythologies otaku. For examples

Kushina involvement in the Naruto vs Kyuubi fight is reminds of
Isis, an goddess in Egyptian mythology who she heals and protect her son
from Seth a god of darkness and chaos until old enough to face him

The Ten Sanada Braves: Sarutobi Sasuke
“Tobi ga taka wo umu” (saying): The “tobi” gives birth to the “taka” (the kite gives birth to the hawk)

Tale of Gallant Jiraiya: Speaks for itself

Imperial Regalia of Japan: Sword of Kusanagi, Yata no kagami, and the magatama wielded by Rikudou+Naruto which are the shape of tomoe

Tale of Orochi: Orochimaru as Orochi ‘slain’ by sword of Totsuka weilded by Susanowo, character of Susano’o represented by Sasuke, Itachi, and the technique of Susano’o; sibling conflict between Amaterasu and Susanowo
Creatures such as the qilin (“Kirin”), Baku (the chimera), kamaitachi, Cerebrus, guard dog of Hades (Pain’s dog summon)

4 Beasts/4 Constellations and 5 element system of Asian mythology/culture: 4 beasts are Azure Dragon (Gai), Suzaku (Itachi’s Akatsuki ring), White Tiger (Konan’s ring, related to Gai again with his “Afternoon Tiger”), Black Tortoise (??). 5 elements are the same except that it’s Metal in Asian culture which would be analogous to Lightning in Kishimoto’s work

Shintoism- Linked to the Sharingan and the Uchiha with the tomoe, gods names (Susanowo, Amaterasu,

Tsukuyomi, Izanagi, Kagutsuchi, and the name attachment -no-“Mikoto” which is Sasuke and Itachi’s mother’s name)

Buddhism- Rinnegan in regards to reincarnation, Pain and The Six Paths relating to the six paths of suffering

Jashinis is an word play off Jainism, an Indian religion that prescribes a path of ahimsa—nonviolence—towards all living beings, and emphasises spiritual interdependence and equality between all forms of life

    The world/history:
Bunraku (Japanese puppetry): inspired the characters of Sasori, Kankurou, and Chiyo
The Cold War: Pain’s plan to put the world into an equilibrium by putting the equivalent of nukes to all countries for deterrence

    human psychological :

Shows you what happen to people when loses their light..think Hitler or some serial killers

..I can go on but it would probably be best if Iéave it at that

    ■ What we hate about Naruto

The one think I really dislike about Naruto is the editorial cuts that was made to the series, like cutting out few missions of team 7/some Hidan/Kakuzu arc, Team Taka

    ■ Has the anime been ruined by filler

No, I don’t think its ruined the anime per say, Especially the character base ones like Kakashi Anbu arc or Iruka mini arc b/c they’re semi-canon due to the fact that Kishimoto seem to have the final say in those, according to an interview with the anime producer.

    ■ Favorites:

    Pein’s Invasion

    Pein vs Naruto

    Naruto vs. Sasuke

Tobi vs Naruto, Bee, Gai and Kakashi

    Killer Bee vs Taka

    Obito vs Kakashi

    Danzou vs Sasuke

    there few more, but….

    Naruto, Hinata, Kushina, Kakashi

My number #01 favorite is Naruto is Pein, b/c he is was the only villain that defeat Naruto mentally and physically, after it’s Konan, Madara and Kaguya

    Thoughts on the Final Arc

Overall I thought the arc good, but didn’t really live to its potential, mainly because too much editorial interference

    The Ending:

I’m actually be satisfied with the ending to my surprise considering I thought NARUTO would end up being another FMA for me. As for the pairing I’m very happy with them.

Adressing what you guys said in the podcast,

First of all, why do everybody said that Kishi ignored the secondary characters in the second half , which complete false since 70% of the second half was devoted the them, Chiyo, Killer Bee, Shikamaru, Kakashi, Madara, Hashirama, Gaara, Obito, Gai, Nagato, Jiraiya, Hinata, Itachi . The more accuracy statement would that the rookies didn’t really get much screen-time as people wanted them too.

Jrow, I think you’re taking about BLEACH because the filler in Naruto never started in started in the middle of an arc outside from the the war arc.

Steev, Naruto didn’t get as much focus as you think , there was about two arcs that mainly focus on him

    Gaara arc:

    Chiyo, Gaara Sakura

    Sai arc:

    Sai, Sakura

    Hidan/Kakuzu arc:

    Itachi arc:

    Sasuke, Jiraiya

    Pein arc:

    Naruto, Kakashi, Hinata

    Kage arc:

    Sakura, Sasuke

    Kyuubi Flashback arc:

    War arc:

Naruto was mainly focus towards the end of the arc

    Steev, Xcom, Amuro, Jrow,

The Naruto anime production schedule isn’t like Space Dandy/Heroman where the episodes finish ahead time

Amuro, the reason for the upcoming filler arc is to buy enough time to get their big names back since 90% of the big time Naruto directors, storyboard artist animators have just finished working on The Last Naruto the movie/are currently working on some other series that currently airing, like Atsushi Wakabayashi
    with Shingeki no Bahamut.

…..There few more things I would like to say, but this getting kinda longer so I’ll end it here

I forgot to mention that I like the positive, negative and neutral concept of the series
