It is Valentine’s Day and what better to celebrate it by picking the top 5 girls of the Winter 2012 anime season. You might ask yourself, “what qualifies a girl for this list?” The answer is simple, anything that makes her stand out! Whether she is a daynamic character that deserves recognition or she is just too damn hawt. So who makes your top 5 list?
5) Rias Gremory (Highschool DxD)

I know most of us wrote off DxD when we heard about it, but instead it turned out to be pretty good. Even if DxD is not your show, then there is one thing we can all agree with… The girls are too damn hot. I never wanted to be a demon until now! The hottest is most definitely Rias. As the leader of the group she has massive qualifications that demand attention. She also kicks a lot of ass! I mean she just obliterated the people who attacked her. You do not want to get on her bad side.
4) Kitahara Mio (Ano Natsu de Matteru)
I wonder if she is a nudest... Nothing wrong with being a nudest, well, as long as you are a hawt girl.
It is the quit and shy girls you have to watch out for. She seems like your normal girl, but the more we find out about her the more you have to like her. No, not because she keeps her feelings bottled up. It is because she wears no clothing at home and apparently doesn’t like to wear underwear either! You don’t expect that when you first meet her character. Now she has all of our attentions. I know that she moved to the top of my list of girls I want to live with.
3) Shirakiin Ririchiyo (Inu x Boku SS)
Is it just me or does anyone else want to give her a big bear hug?
As a Tsudare lead she doesn’t stand out much. She is your typical loli-tsudare that is in 5 new anime every season. The thing that makes her stand out much more than other leads is that we get to hear her inner most thoughts. Normally we only get to read their true thoughts by blushing, body language, and the occasional half admittance to their actual feelings. We now get to sympathize with a Tsudare, which is something that isn’t very common. She also has a bit of a cool side to her because it looks like she can hold her own in a fight. Those are all rare qualities that makes her one of the best characters this season.
2) Zessica Wong (Aquarion EVOL)

Not only is she a major tease, but she is hawt and she has some surprisingly cute sides to her. From the start of EVOL she stood out saying that she wanted to “combine” with boys and the way she dressed got all of the attention from the artists.. If you know what I mean. Anyway, I look forward to see more of her as the series progresses. Her interactions with Amata are pretty hilarious.
1) Kyouno Madoka (Rinne no Lagrange)

Most of my list is filled vainly with girls that I think are hot, but Madoka is one lead that I just couldn’t keep off my list and in fact I had to make her number 1. If it wasn’t for her cheery optimistic go getter attitude, then Rinne no Lagrange would probably be forgotten as another female mecha pilots save the world anime. They are a dime a dozen, but Madoka makes the series great. She doesn’t fit the normal heroine and she makes you want to watch the next episode just to see what she does next. She is the only character this season that is already in the running for the best female character of the year and it is only 6 weeks in.
