I honestly knew very little about this series going into the preview.. All I knew was that it was a widely popular manga that had an adaptation or two that I never watched. After looking into the series I now know that this is no small series and it is an exteremely expansive story. Just a little background, this manga has been going on since 1986! It isn’t however some kind of super long manga like Hajime no Ippo, it is filled with stories from lots of eras, timelines, and even an alternate universe. It is broken up into several arcs, which go on for many volumes, that features different people all from the same family from different gernerations, starting in the 1800’s and going straight up to the present. The main series that it is titled after only has the first 5 arcs, or 63 volumes, after that the author started just breaking them off into sequel series titled after the name of the arc.
It is kind of complicated to explain in a brief season preview like this, but what I can say is that this series looks pretty awesome. My biggest question comes from whether or not they are in it for the long haul or are they only animating the first arc/story? They named it kind of generically, so that gives me reason to believe it might be a long series, but it is being produced by David Productions, which hasn’t done anything over 27 episodes. At the very least I expect the first 5 volumes or the first story/arc to be covered.
